One sick momma
Moms should not be allowed to get sick.
I’ve been knocked out since Sunday with an infection caused by nursing, meaning my family and household have been in a general state of chaos for two days. My husband has been filling in and doing great, but for some reason things seem to fall apart when mom is down for the count.
This, for example, is the scene I found when I emerged from my sick bed.
My daughter apparently staged some sort of twisted protest of my illness by taking every single book and toy off her shelves and emptying her drawers of her clothes. She was running around unkempt, half-naked and crazed like a wild animal.
My husband has also been walking around with a glazed look in his eyes because he’s been getting up at night with the baby and coming home to take care of everyone, including me.
I think my daughter summed up the situation best after I told her for the 100th time not to jump on the bed next to me while I was sick. She thought for a moment and then said, “Oh. When mommy is sick no one can be happy?”
Sounds about right, kid.
What happens in your household when mom gets sick? Any good stories from when you were out of commission?
