Bristol Palin dancing all the way to the bank

I’ve tried to give Bristol Palin the benefit of the doubt.

I felt sorry for her when the media turned the spotlight on her during her mother’s presidency campaign. I tried to think the best of her when she did a 180-degree switch to promote abstinence when she previously said that was just not practical for teen girls. And I tried to believe her when she became the ambassador for the Candies Foundation, saying she just wanted other girls to learn from her mistakes and not repeat them.

But I’m done trying.

Bristol’s latest escapades confirm to me that she is simply a media hound. She will be appearing on the upcoming season of ABC’s “Dancing With the Stars,” wherein celebrities in need of a career boost wear sparkly outfits and twirl around the dance floor.

Bristol says she wants her life to be a warning to other teenage girls not to have sex, but her actions speak louder. She is exploiting her teen pregnancy to catapult herself into reality TV stardom, and the only message she is sending to young girls is that teen pregnancy can really pay off if you have the right agent.

Bristol does say her outfits will be the most conservative on the set because that’s who she is. Based on her history of convenient beliefs, I’m not holding my breath.

What do you think of Bristol’ choice to be on “Dancing With the Stars”? What message do you think she is sending to young girls about sex and teen pregnancy?
