ADHD and pesticides
Pesticides on fruits and vegetables may be linked to ADHD in children, according to a new study.
The study, published this week in the journal Pediatrics, concluded that kids with higher levels of common food pesticides in their system are twice as likely to be diagnosed with ADHD.
Researchers suggest buying only organic fruits and vegetables and doing a thorough scrubbing of any food with edible skin.
I appreciate the research and information, but sometimes I feel so overwhelmed by all the possible risks and side effects in just about everything these days. For a mom, it’s a constant barrage of warnings and possible links between everyday products and terrifying diseases. There are groups claiming links between autism and vaccines, certain bottles and dangerous toxins and now fruits and vegetables are making the list. Fruits and vegetables for crying out loud – isn’t anything safe?
So what’s a mom supposed to do to keep her kids safe without driving herself insane with worry and unnecessary precautions?
How do you decide which warnings and possible risks to take seriously? What about this latest link between pesticides and ADHD? Will it affect the food you buy or the way you feed your children?
