A New Year
I wrote earlier this week about the list of resolutions I’d love to make, but know I have no chance of keeping. You know, things like being patient and calm with my daughter and being out of my pajamas by 3 p.m.
But I do have some resolutions I’m making this year in the spirit of the New Year.
1. Cook more — In my house, we don’t buy it if it doesn’t come pre-made and frozen in a bag. On a fancy night I may crack open a can of something. So this year I’m going to try to actually cook for my husband and daughter.
I decided this was something I need to focus on when my family gave me a cook book, a saute pan and a pie-crust protector thingy for Christmas; I only recognized the cookbook.
2. Sleep — There’s a magical time at night when the children are finally asleep and the house is quiet and you can actually see the Play-doh that has crusted on to the carpet.
If you’re like me, you find yourself so utterly overwhelmed by the thought of quiet time to yourself that you waste it checking your e-mail, watching TV or just staring at the wall trying to clear your mind.
But what I should be doing is going to bed because that little baby is waking up bright and early no matter how long I stay up to relish the nighttime quiet. So it may sound simple, but my goal this year is to actually sleep.
What are you resolutions this year?
