"Twilight"

For all you Edward and Bella fans out there, I’m sure I don’t need to remind you that the “Twilight” movie comes out Friday.

For everyone else, you have 24 hours left to go read at least the first book in the series before seeing the movie.

I’m somewhat embarrassed to admit that I love the “Twilight” series. I even faked illness on several occasions so I could stay in bed and read it. It is just addicting, plain and simple. So even though it’s written for teenagers, I still found myself completely captivated by the characters and the twists and turns of the plot.

And I’m not ashamed to say that I made my husband pretend to be Edward (the book’s vampire heartthrob) on several occasions.

OK, I’m a little ashamed to say that.

Anyway, the book does have its share of sexual innuendo and tension. All of the books have a heaping dose of extremely realistic sexual frustration. I should know — I went to BYU, after all.

So even though I love the books, I’m not sure I’d want my daughter reading them. Although there’s nothing immoral per se in the character’s actions, there is a lot of time spent on desires and thoughts I wouldn’t want my daughter entertaining.

What do you think about the “Twilight” series — love it or hate it? Would you let your daughter read it?
