Rockin' the mom vote
OK mommas, the presidential election in four weeks. Now, I know it’s hard to find time for politics between diaper changes and soccer practices. It’s hard to tell a one-year-old that dinner will have to wait because mommy needs to brush up on McCain’s views on health-care reform.
But packing lunches and helping with homework can wait for just a minute, because after all, one of our most important jobs as moms is to help decide what the future will be for our kids. And if we don’t vote, we give up a little bit of that power.
So take a few moments to get educated about this year’s candidates — I mean beyond Paris Hilton ads and mudslinging campaigns. For starters, watch the presidential debate on tonight starting at 9 p.m. Eastern and 7 p.m. in Utah.
And if you’re really gung-ho, check out the candidates’ Web sites for detailed explanations on where they stand on everything from abortion, health care, Iraq, taxes and the economy. I’ll even give you some links: www.barackobama.com, www.johnmccain.com.
So take a few moments away from the kids to learn about the real issues in this year’s election — and don’t forget to vote Nov. 4.
Please add any links you’ve found helpful in choosing a candidate, and if you’re particularly brave, tell us whom you are voting for and why.
